Cook Family Quarantine

Note: this may be a long post and is a little descriptive.
Here's what has been happening in the Cook household since Sunday. I woke up feeling sick and then I was okay and ate some breakfast. Maddie and I then took a nap for 3 hours. I did wake up to go to the movies to see Hancock and then Brian and I made dinner. We watched tv and got ready for bed and around 10:15, Maddie got sick. We just cleaned it up - no big deal - that happens occasionally. Well, between 10:15 and 12:30, the poor thing threw up about 15 times. So I called the after hours vet and they told us to come in. We were there from 1-3 a.m. They took x-rays and did not find that she had any obstructions so they gave have her anti nausea medicine and sent us home. It was $85 just to go to the vet and $125 for x-rays!

We went back home and got into bed and I woke up to go to work to finish something up and then I was going to come home again. In the meantime, Brian had started to not feel well so he stayed home Monday. I was getting in the car to come home Monday and he called and said Maddie was sick again. So I called and made an appointment with our regular vet for 2:30 (the earliest I could get). Before we left, I let Maddie out and noticed she had diarrhea. We get in the car to go and everything is fine until we are almost there. I should mention that I got my new car on Friday and absolutely love it and we were driving that. I have some pictures that my dad took and he hasn't sent them to me yet so that's why I haven't posted on that. Anyway, I am driving and all of a sudden there is a horrible smell and sure enough, the poor thing pooped all over the backseat of my car. We did have a blanket that she was on but when she realized what happened, she jumped onto the floor and it got on the floor. So, we get to the vet and Brian tells me to go in and he'll clean the car. I went in and told them why we were there and Maddie started bleeding instead of poop. I freaked out and they sent us in an exam room and I told the vet what had been happening and she gave me towels to give to Brian. I went and told Brian and gave him the towels and started crying because I was so scared. If anyone can not picture Brian as a dad then he definitely proved himself yesterday. He cleaned the car and comforted me at the same time and told me not to stress because I had to worry about the real baby too. I told him his 3 girls are lucky to have him. Anyway, the vet said she thinks it's a virus and she gave Maddie medicine and injected some fluid packs into her. We also have 3 prescriptions and I have to give her medicine about every 4 hours. She was okay when we got home and we all took a nap.

This morning I woke up sick again around 1 a.m. and I still feel terrible and extremely congested. Maddie woke up around 4 and had to go outside but other than that she has been okay so far. I am hoping she stays that way because if she gets bad again ,we need to go back to the vet and do bloodwork to see if anything else could be wrong.

As for Brian, he is not feeling 100% but he did go to work today so we'll see.

So that's the story of the Cook family quarantine. I think we will be well prepared when Baby Sam arrives in a few short weeks.
