I had a doctor appointment yesterday and everything was great. Now I start going every week so the doctor can start checking my progress and see if the baby is head down and ready to go and whether or not I am dilating. She may induce since we live far away from the hospital but she'll let us know according to how our weekly visits go. If she tells me I am getting close I plan on stopping work a week before she thinks the baby will come so I can rest up and get the house ready.
We're getting really excited now and are ready for Baby Sam to arrive. I am almost finished with the room and I almost have all the shower gifts put away and almost all my thank you notes done so we are getting there! Pictures to come once the room is a little cleaner. I bought a cute sign and a wooden moon for the one remaining empty wall so once everything is put up I will post some more pictures.
Today I went to a breastfeeding class at EJGH to get some more information on that and I plan on trying it when the baby arrives. I hope everything works out because it seems very beneficial for the baby.
Here is what is happening this week according to www.babycenter.com
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
