Happy Valentine's Day!

Playing on Saturday in her cute Mardi Gras t

Other than Sam and I being sick, we had a good Valentine's Day. I got flowers delivered. They're beautiful purple irises and red tulips in a red vase. Brian got some chocolate and cards from his girls, Sam got some stuffed animals and books, and Maddie got 2 new toys.

Sam woke up congested and with a runny nose on Saturday. I watched her throughout the day and though she seemed a bit better yesterday, I decided to take her to the after hours clinic because I suspected she had an ear infection. I called and there was no wait and her doctor is out today so I figured I might as well try the clinic. Sure enough, both ears and her throat were red. She was such a big girl when the doctor checked her out, although she almost got sick when he looked in her throat. When he left the room, that was a different story. She turned into a little monster. She wanted to get down and touch everything and pull everything out of drawers. I tried to hold onto her and she started turning red and screaming no at me. But I can't complain too much. She has never given us much trouble and she seems to have a high tolerance for pain. She was never very fussy when she was teething and the 2 other times she had ear infections, I had no idea. I just took her to the doctor because I thought she had a cold. This time there were several other symptoms that made me suspect she wasn't feeling well but she was still sleeping and acting normal. She is such a trooper. I got some Amoxicillin for her and hopefully that will help, although she hates taking medicine now and has no problem expressing her dislike! She shakes her head no, tells me no and clamps her mouth shut. But I managed to get her to swallow it with a little bribery - mini vanilla wafers.

As for me, I am congested, have a sore throat and am exhausted. Brian took care of Sam all afternoon and even cooked dinner for us. I feel bad because I didn't feel like eating but he did a great job. I just hope he doesn't get sick now!

Oh no, I hope everyone starts feeling well soon, especially you Steph! I know in our house, it's so hard on the entire family when mommy doesn't feel good...everything seems to fall apart. Let me know if you need anything, I'm just a phone call away.
