Injured Puppy

Brian and I took Maddie swimming on Sunday at his parents house. At first we were the only ones there and she got in the water on the steps and played with her ball. Then she kept crying to go inside because she wanted some air conditioning :-) Brian's parents got home and they let her lay inside and she started to take a nap and then his brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew came over so Maddie was ready to play again. Brian made her swim a little but she prefers to sit on the step. She bites at the water and dunks her head under to get toys. She was funny. I forgot my camera so I couldn't get any pictures. Later, the boys were playing baseball in the pool so she was running back and forth on the edge of the pool whichever way the ball went. Needless to say, by the end of the day she was exhausted. Before we went home, we noticed her paw was bleeding. We put some water on it and went home. Then when we got home she did not want to walk and all she did was lay down. When she did walk she limped. We were pretty worried about her because we couldn't tell what was wrong and whenever Brian would try to touch her to figure out what was wrong she would move away from him.

The next morning she still was just laying around and she didn't even want to eat breakfast or go outside, which is not normal. So I scheduled an appointment with the vet. I later noticed that her poor paws were red red and blistered. The vet said it is not uncommon, expecially in the summer, and that their paw pads heal pretty quickly. She gave us some anti-inflammatories and said she should be better in 5 days or so. Poor thing looks so sad and she still follows us around but then she lays down as soon as we stop because it hurts to walk. She is getting her personality back though and she has been eating and goind outside to potty since lunch time yesterday. I wanted to take some pictures of her injury but I loaned my camera to my parents. They left yesterday for Niagara Falls.

In other news, we start our childhood ed class tonight. It's every Tuesday this month. I'm interested to see what it is like. The doctor said it's not required and if we feel like it's a waste of time we don't have to go the rest, so we'll see. I think it should be interesting.

The baby's room is coming along as well. We found wood so we can place our order and get our floors done soon. I ordered a lamp and valence from Pottery Barn Kids and they are both so cute. The valence is a little small so I have to order another and we'll just put them together. Our bedding came from PBK so the colors all blend really well. The valence and lamp shade are green gingham. I also bought some letters to spell Samantha's name and painted them pink and am going to hang them over her bed with pink gingham ribbon. It should be cute. I'll take some pictures as soon as I get my camera back.
