Baby Avery Update Week 3

I had another weekly check-up on Monday afternoon. After waiting in the doctor's office for a while, we were finally seen. There's one girl at the reception desk that messes up the schedule a lot. One time she never checked me in and this time she put me in as someone else so there was a lot of confusion. Anyway, the nurse checked my urine sample and said there were some white cells so she asked if I had signs of a bladder infection and I said no. Dr. W looked at it and said it was okay. Then the nurse listened for the baby's heartbeat and kind of scared us. Normally she says what it is (between 138-144) and smiles and says the doctor will be in shortly. This time I saw her counting to herself and then she said she'd be back. She came back, said it was high, and said she was going to ask the doctor if she wanted to do a non-stress test. Dr. W said yes so I was hooked up. It was still high so they kept bringing me cups of water. When the baby would move, it would go up to the 180's and even 200's. Dr. W said it's normal for it to go up but not to sustain at that level for periods of time. At 4, Dr. W said I could stay for an hour longer or go to the hospital to monitor and get an IV. I opted to stay with her. She still wasn't satisfied at 5 so we headed to the hospital. She came in around 7 and said it looked much better but she would feel a lot better if we stayed overnight. She said I could eat and ordered me a sleeping pill. I had a bag with a book, magazine, camera and video camera in the car just in case but nothing that we really needed so Brian headed off to get dinner and some toiletries at the drugstore. The sleeping pill didn't work and I could not get comfortable. I also had to get up a lot because of all the fluids they were giving me. I don't think I fell asleep until 5:30 am. At 7 am, my doctor's partner came in and said everything looked much better and we could go home. Dr. W wouldn't be in until lunch time so she was going to look at the results and call us. I was worried because our next appt with her isn't until next Wednesday. The office is closed on the 5th and she's off on the 6th, however, she is on call all 4th of July weekend. Dr. W called around 1 and said she wanted me to come back 1st thing Friday to monitor again. She had originally told me last week that if we wanted to induce, I could pick any date after the 4th. We didn't talk about that on Monday because there was a chance the baby would be delivered then if her heart rate didn't go down. I asked about it when we talked and she said we would talk Friday because she may arrive even sooner than next week. So I guess we'll see what happens. I hope everything is okay. I am ready for her to get here because I am really uncomfortable now and exhausted and now I am worrying all day that she is okay. I will admit that I am still scared about labor and delivery even though I already had Sam and being in the hospital Monday night didn't help with that :-) Also, there is a chance I may need a c-section and I don't really know what happens so I am scared of the unknown. Please continue praying that baby Avery and I are healthy and for a safe and quick delivery :-)

I also want to thank my parents and Brian's mom because they are pretty much staying over to take care of Sam so I can rest, drink lots of fluids, and just in case we need to head back to the hospital for any reason.
