5 Year Anniversary Trip To Zihuatanejo, Mexico!

Entryway
Bedroom with door to bathroom and patio outside
Bedroom (the painting is actually closet doors)
We had a different design on our pillow each morning that was made with flower petals and grass.
The plunge pool
Our patio is right behind the towel stand. We were right on the beach and close to everything at the resort.
Patio
Other side of the patio
Me reading on the swing bed.
After dinner one night.
A view from the beach.
That's the restaurant in the background. It was the view from our dinner table on the beach.
The infinity edge pool.
Brian in the ocean. I was scared to go. One day they said a crocodile was in the ocean while we were there. Apparently there is a lagoon nearby and they have crocodiles and sometimes they get loose!
Lunch on the beach next to our swing bed.
Breakfast our last morning before we caught our flight home

Brian and I left last Saturday for a 4 night trip to Zihuatanejo, Mexico. We stayed at a great resort called The Tides. (http://www.tideszihuatanejo.com/) It was beautiful! We had so much fun. It was very relaxing. Although we did miss Sam sooo much! And Maddie too! I highly recommend The Tides and we look forward to going back. Our room was right on the beach and it was so nice! You enter through the front door, which is right by a bar and pool. In the entry room there is a sofa and a bathroom and the sliding doors open to the patio. The patio has 2 lounge chairs and a table. Then you go into the bedroom and you can close a sliding door to the entryway (that part has no air). There was another bigger bathroom and another set of sliding doors that opened to the patio and on this side of the patio there were 2 chairs and a private plunge pool. I didn't take any pictures in the pool, but there were some plants and things in front of it to make it more private.

We were located near everything. There are 2 restaurants, but was one closed since it was off season. There are several pools and a few bars. They have lots of chairs and umbrellas and several swing beds. We had a swing bed reserved for us most of the days we were there. It was so nice. If you get too hot, you just go to your bed and it is very shaded and breezy. I enjoyed laying in the bed reading after I had too much sun. There are flags on the chairs and beds that you raise and someone will come take your order. You can order drinks and/or food. You can eat whenever you want, wherever you want. If you order while on the beach, they will set up a table and bring your food to you. The food was pretty good. The Mexican dishes were the best. For dinner you would always get homeade tortillas with chips and salsa. We also got great gaucamole and chips most days for lunch. Our favorite dish was the fish tacos and one day we had lobster tacos.
We really had such a great time. Coffee, a xeroxed pamphlet of the NY Times and croissants were delivered to our room every morning. We would pour some coffee and head to the restaurant for breakfast (one day we ate on the patio), then we would hit the beach and relax and swim, order a few drinks and lunch, and then at night we would shower and get dressed for dinner. There are a few other resorts and small restaurants around but we did not even venture away from where we stayed.

My parents (Mimi and Pops) stayed at our house and watched Sam and Maddie. We can't thank them enough. I called a few times a day to check in but I knew Sam was in good hands. A lot of times I could hear her talking and giggling when I called so I know she had fun. Mimi and Pops did too. They went out to lunch, shopping, got snowballs, and even went to the park. I will post some of those pictures when they send them to me. They even got Sam's 10 month picture with her lamb. Last Friday I took Sam to the doctor and she had an ear infection and some oozing from her eye, so Mimi and Pops were also on medicine duty. They had to give eye drops 3 times a day, Amoxcillin twice a day and had to give Maddie her thyroid medicine twice a day. I think it's worse to do Maddie's medicine because the only way she will take it is if it's in a cheerio :-) Thanks so much Mimi and Pops! We love you!

Although we had so much fun, we were really excited to get home last night. We almost missed our connection from Houston because customs and security lines were so long but our flight got delayed because they were waiting on people and then they let too many people on so they made some people get off. Then we finally arrived home and the connector from the plane to the airport was broken so we had to wait a while. But we finally made it. We got to play with Maddie when we got home, but Sam was asleep. I couldn't wait to get her out of bed this morning. She was all smiles and so cute! We've been playing all day and I can't stop squeezing and kissing her.
