Happy 2nd Birthday Maddie Mae!

Happy 2nd Birthday to our first baby! We still love her so much. Everyone said that would change when we had a baby and it's true that she gets less attention but she's still our first baby and such a sweetie. (although she does have a problem with jumping up on people when they come in and sometimes she humps them :-) but she just wants some loving). She is so much fun and so smart. If you ask her where her ball is she will run through the house and find one and bring it back to you. If you ask her if she wants to take a walk she gets really excited and sits by the back door and stares at her leash. She knows where the treats are and if the pantry door is open she sneaks in hoping for someone to give her one. She seems to have an internal alarm clock and will not hesitate to sit on my pillow and wake me up when it's time for breakfast. She won't wake Brian up but she wakes me up and stares at Brian until he moves or talks and then she jumps on him. Most nights she sits in the window waiting for him to come home from work because she knows he always plays with her when he gets home. Around 4 p.m. she will sit by me and watch me because she knows it's almost time for dinner. If I am ignoring her she will nudge my hand with her nose. She also does that to anyone when she wants you to pet her. She thinks giving you high five and her paw is the answer to everything. If she jumps up and you tell her to sit she will give you her paw, sometimes both of them. She also loves to drink water out of the master bath faucet. I guess sometimes she believes that the water in her bowl is not fresh enough and only water from the master bath will do. Many times a day I will hear the water running in the bathroom and have to go turn it off. If only she could turn the faucet off as well as on!

We were a little worried about how she would be with the baby but she is doing great. She loves to sniff Sam and her toys and she licks her fingers sometimes. She also knows not to jump up if you are holding the baby. She does investigate her toys but if you tell her no she won't take them.
Tonight she gets a special treat for her birthday - a doggie ice cream sandwich. A co-worker told me about them last year. They sell them in the frozen food section at Winn-Dixie. Last year she gobbled it up and licked the floor for about 5 minutes after!
