4 Weeks Old

Big sister Maddie is pretty much trained to sit when she sees the camera because I used to bribe her with a treat in my hand when I wanted her to take a picture. Now all I have to do is take out the camera, tell her to sit and she'll do it without the bribe.

Sam is 4 weeks old today! It feels like the weeks have gone by so fast. She had a doctor's appointment this week and the doctor is pleased with her weight gain. She went from 7 lbs at her last visit to 8 lbs, 10 oz. She is just starting to outgrow newborn diapers and starting to be able to wear 0-3 month outfits, although they are still a little big. She is now strictly on formula. I experimented a few days and found that she was really fussy and upset on the days she had breastmilk and she was fine on the days she did not. The doctor said she is doing just fine on formula and I can stop pumping. She said sometimes babies are irritated by some things moms eat. I haven't been eating bad but a lot of things can irritate a baby and I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was.


I want to thank Brian's mom and my mom for all of their help this week. They have been spending alternating nights and days over here since I got sick Monday night. Thank goodness for grandparents! I can't thank them enough for all of their help. I have been able to rest a lot since they have been here. My doctor thinks I may have mastitis. I started with chills and fever Monday night and then I would wake up sweating and the fever would go down and then I would get chills again. I was prescribed an antiobotic and I feel a lot better today.


That's it for now on the 4 week update. I think the baby may be waking up from her afternoon nap.
