Happy 1st Birthday!!

Today is Maddie's first birthday! I had a few toys for her but ended up giving her some this weekend to keep her occupied because we had company over for the LSU game. So I only have one wrapped toy to give her and I got her some doggie ice cream sandwiches. My secretary at work told me I had to get her a special treat and she said Winn Dixie sold doggie ice cream so I went to get her some at lunch. I will post some pictures tonight of her enjoying her special treat.

We got Maddie on December 23, 2007. The time has gone by so fast. Brian and I both wanted a dog but we knew it was a big responsibility so we discussed it a lot before we decided to get her. We owe a big thank you to Michele McCarthy's sister and brother-in-law for giving Maddie to us. It was really a great decision and we have enjoyed her so much. I always knew I wanted a dog and would love to have one. I had one as a kid but I wasn't the one who really took care of her. Anyway, it has been really surprising to both Brian and I how a pet can add so much joy to your life and how much you can love it. And there will never be anyone who loves you so unconditionally (although she loves daddy more than mommy :-)) and is so excited to face a new day and wake you up with slobbery kisses!
