Gifts I got for being room mom from the teachers. So cute and thoughtful! They made a flower bouquet out of the kids hand prints and gave me a basket with cookie mix and a cookbook.
I know I am way behind on blogging. I am determined to get caught up since school is starting again on Monday.
Samantha had her end of year class party on May 14, 2012. We decided on a summer/beach/Hawaiian theme. Samantha and I made beach cupcakes and bought leis for everyone. Another mom got hula hoops for everyone and the kids had a hula hoop contest. The kids ate chicken, potatoes and fruit, had their cupcakes and then did the hula contest. Afterwards, they all got a talking/interactive book. I think they had fun!
On the last day of school, the teachers gave me a hand print bouquet and a gift basket for being room mom for the year. It was so sweet and thoughtful. Although I felt like I was bothering other moms at times, I really enjoyed being the room mom and getting to go to all of the school functions. If you aren't the room mom, you only sign up to help with a few things. As the room mom, you can participate in and help with everything. I loved getting to see Samantha in her classroom and getting to know her friends and teachers, especially since it was her 1st year of school. I couldn't sign up to be room mom again this year since I did it last year, so I guess I'll wait for Avery to start school next year and do it for her :) Although we met Samantha's new teacher today and no one had signed up to be room mom so maybe I will get to do it again :) I guess we'll see :)
