Hitch

The vet came over a couple of weeks ago to give Maddie her second round of puppy shots. She did great and didn't even cry. I left to get some lunch after and then went back home to let her out one more time before heading back to work. I heard her crying as I was turning the key in the lock and was wondering why because she had only been home alone for 30 minutes or so. I was so scared when I opened the door and saw that her face was completely swollen and she was crying hysterically and trying to get out of her cage. The vet works from home and I could not get in touch with her so I had to call the hospital that she deals with and they told me to bring her in right away. As it turns out, Maddie was allergic to something in the shots and had to be monitored the rest of the day and put on Benadryl. She had to take it for 3 days after as well. She looked like Will Smith did in Hitch if anyone has seen that movie. I was too scared to get a picture before we left for the hospital but here are some pics from when we picked her up that night and you can tell she was still swollen. She is due for another round of shots soon so we will have to put her on Benadryl again and monitor her closely. Poor puppy!
